Rainy Day Escapes in Shiga

While Shiga may not receive a lot of press, the prefecture nonetheless offers a great deal of things to do in a day trip from Kansai’s surrounding cities—even when it rains. In this video, we visit the surreal La Collina complex, home to some of the best German baumkuchen cakes in the country; wander the city of Nagahama and try our hand at hot glass-making in Kurokabe Square, and finish up with a soothing cup of coffee on the banks of Lake Biwa, Japan’s largest lake—the perfect spot to watch the sun set.
