This month a symposium will be held in Kobe for people with disabilities concerning ways to obtain assistance from city welfare services. It will be held in Japanese with English translators available. The event will feature Kentaro Nagaoka, who heads a team of lawyers which has filed a lawsuit on the matter in the Wakayama Court. This is the first legal suit of its kind in Japan, and is designed to compel the government to fulfill its obligations under the law to protect and enable the rights of people living with disabilities in Japan.
