Eastwood plays Gus, a grumpy old baseball scout that has spent his life scouring the minor leagues for the next big star. Shunning both family and technology in the process, he has finally come to the end of his career. A legend in his day, he has 3 months left on his contract at the Atlanta Braves and teams up with his reluctant, lawyer daughter for what may be his last big swing. Non-baseball fans will still enjoy this somewhat conventional fatherdaughter reconciliation story, not least for Eastwood’s Gran Torinoesque portrayal of a cranky oldtimer looking to go out on a high.
