Cool power-saving plans
Nishinomiya — Unsurprisingly, due to limited nuclear power plant operation, power saving is still high on the summer agenda for cities around Japan. Possible electricity blackouts in Kansai were announced by Kansai Electric Power Company (KEPCO) back in June. Nishinomiya City has been advising residents and businesses to limit air-conditioning hours and stick to cool biz dress codes as last year, but one of its cooler ideas is from Nishinomiya City Foundation for the Promotion of Culture. They’re offering free public movie screenings at Frente Nishinomiya, giving residents the chance to save on home air-con and share a movie with the community.
